The following software is available for download.
Use of the software is free providing:
(1) The user understands that the provision of this software implies no guarrantee of its accuracy and the owners, distributors and creators of the software accept no responsability for unknown errors in the software or their implications for accuracy or its interaction with your existing hardware and software systems.
(2) That the user informs Paul Glover of her/his use of the software, describes in a few sentences its application, and indicates that (s)he understands the restrictions given in (1) above (paglover@ggl.ulaval.ca).
(3) That the user inserts the following phrase into their document "The <Insert name of software> software was obtained from Paul Glover, Université Laval, Canada".
(4) That the user ensures that the base publication is properly cited in their document. The base publication is different for each software package and is given below.
SynFrac
SynFrac enables the numerical synthesis of fracture surfaces and apertures. It uses a number of input parameters that control the spatial correlation of the surfaces as well as the correlation between each of the two surfaces. The software can be used to create fractures where the two surfaces are correlated at long wavelengths but behave independently at small wavelengths in the same manner that has been observed for real rocks.
Any number of versions of a fracture with the same parameters may be created by using different random number seeds, and as each version is physically unique, it may be recreated at any time by running the program again with the same parameters and seed value. SynFrac is therefore ideally suited to numerical flow modelling where it is necessary to run a number of models with the same parameters, but that are physically different.

ParaFrac
This software allows the analysis of fractures made from two rough fracture surfaces. It covers the basic statistical properties of the fracture surfaces and their spatial correlations (fourrier analysis and spatial correlation graphs). It can be used on data created using SynFrac, or it can be used on appropriately formatted experimental datasets (such as from OptiProf) to obtain the parameters required to create synthetic fracture using SynFrac.
ParaFrac is not currently available online.

OptiProf
This software allows the measurement of the rough fracture surfaces of natural fractures in rocks using an epoxy cast and optical technique.
OptiProf is not currently available online.
