The 2007 Chemistry-Climate Modeling
workshop will focus on process-oriented validation and comparison of
coupled chemistry-climate models (CCMs) and progress in Chemistry
Climate Modeling in the stratosphere and troposphere.
This workshop is part of a SPARC activity for CCM Validation (CCMVal) (http://www.pa.op.dlr.de/CCMVal/
). Further details on the CCMVal project, including a summary of
the 2003 and 2005 meetings are available on the web site.
This activity is aimed at bringing together the expertise of the
measurement and process-studies communities to bear on improving our
confidence in future predictions of CCMs. We encourage the
participation of global modellers as well as observationalists.
Workshop
Goals: The goals of the workshop will be to: (i) encourage
discussion of new observations and new methods that can be used to
evaluate CCMs, (ii) discuss progress in the evaluation of current CCMs,
(iii) coordinate the planned SPARC Report on evaluation of CCMs, and
(iv) discuss and suggest a strategy for CCM simulations for the next
round of WMO Ozone and IPCC Climate Assessments.

The workshop is being held under the auspices of the CCM Validation activity for WCRP's (World Climate Research Programme) SPARC (Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate), the University of Leeds, UK.
