CCMVAL Chemistry Plots

Here are some first plots from the 5 models which have submitted 'full chemistry' results ahead of the CCMVAL workshop. These are preliminary and just for internal circulation. All comments welcome.

The 7 models are:

• UMSLIMCAT (Leeds, Chipperfield and Tian),
• E39C (DLR, Dameris, Eyring et al),
• MAECHAM (MPI Mainz/Hamburg, Bruehl, Giorgetta et al),
• ULAQ (L'Aquila, Pitari),
• WACCM (NCAR, Kinnison, Garcia, et al).

The plots have been produced by Wenshou Tian (wenshou@env.leeds.ac.uk).

• Animations of monthly zonal mean fields

  The movies run for 5 years (e.g. 1980-1985, or 1990-1995) but the SPARC climatology (top left panel) repeats itself every year.

  NB: In the plots the MAECHAM latitudes have been reversed wrt the file. (Maybe written in wrong order?).

• Correlation Plots

  Plots are coloured by model level (i.e. arbitrary and varies from plot to plot). The straight line is fit to lower stratosphere ER-2 data.
