Reading data

Having open a data file using the -f command line option or using the menu item 1 (Input data file options) the next step is to read in a dataset. From the main menu select option 4 (Select data set). This leads to a sub menu where you can select the type of data to read.

0-D
Scalar parameters (this displays on the screen all the scalar parameters stored in the file).
1-D
1-d datasets - primarily 1-d background profiles used to initialise the model.
2-D
2-d datasets - mostly quantities defined at the surface, such as height and surface fluxes.
3-D
3-d datasets - scalar data defined everywhere in the domain, such as temperature, humidity, windspeed and viscosity.
Vector field
Vector quantities such as velocity and vorticity.
Time series
Blasius time series containing a scalar value saved at a series of times.

Many common options have their own menu item. If the data you want is not in the list then you can select the user data set option. Enter the name the data set is identified by in the header of the data file.
