Sarah Monks

PhD student
Funding: EPSRC

Sarah is working on the Arctic troposphere, where she is using aircraft and satellite observations with the TOMCAT model to investigate the ozone and NOy budgets of the Arctic troposphere, quantifying the imapcts of boreal forest fires and long-range transport of anthropogenic pollution. She is jointly supervised by Prof. Martyn Chipperfield.

Dr Nigel Richards

National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO)

Nigel works with the group as part of his NCEO activities. We are working on a variety of applications of satellite observations to the composition of the global troposphere. These include understanding the NOy budget of the upper troposphere, quantifying ocean emissions of gases and particles, investigating transport of pollution to the Arctic and improving our understanding of the composition of the very remote troposphere.

  Jo Browse
PhD student
Funding: NERC CASE (with Met Office)

Jo is working on quantification of the impacts of aerosol transport to the Arctic region on the composition of the Arctic troposphere and climate, and improving the representation of these processes in climate models. She is jointly supervised by Prof. Ken Carslaw.

Michael Hollaway
PhD student
Funding: NERC CASE (with Met Office)

Michael is investigating ozone deposition in present and future climates, and the impacts of surface ozone on the land carbon sink through its effects on vegetation.
