My main interests involve the modelling and analysis of socio-ecological systems. Keywords are futures research, scenario analysis and integrated modelling as well as participatory resource management and sustainable consumption and production. I have conducted studies for a number of national agencies in Austria, China, Japan, and the UK, and international institutions such as the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), the OECD, and UNESCO. Currently, I have more than £ 7 million of active grants on which I am a named investigator. I am leading research projects amounting to almost £ 1 million. I (co-) supervise around 15 PhD and post-doctoral students and a few Masters students. News: I was recently invited to talk at the BBC World Service about my research on China's development trajectories and associated CO2 emissions (download audio file). Our paper 'China's Growing CO2 emissions' has been named as the top policy article of the year by Environmental Science & Technology. Our recent research on China's exports has appeared in media reports including ScienceNews, New Scientist, the German TV (WDR) as well as regional news papers such as the Yorkshire Post and the Birmingham Post. |
