Model Results for Winter 2010/2011

This page contains preliminary results from simulations with the SLIMCAT 3D model chemical transport model. The near real time model run is forced by ECMWF T42L91 operational analyses with a horizontal resolution of 2.8 x 2.8 degrees and 32 levels from the surface to ~60 km.

Preliminary Model Results

This page contains recent, preliminary SLIMCAT model results for winter 2010/2011. Contact Prof. Martyn Chipperfield for more details and requests.

Here is an animation of O3 loss (left) and ClOx (right) at ~470K during winter 2010/11.

Figures (460K) and (column o3 loss) show time series of vortex-averaged chemical ozone loss at ~460 K and summed over the partial LS (380-550 K) column for Arctic winters 1994/95 to 2010/11. For more information, please see Feng et al., Large Chemical Ozone Loss in 2004/05 Arctic Winter/Spring, Geophys. Res. Lett., 34, L09803, doi:10.1029/2006GL029098, 2007.
